Learning how to effectively study not only facilitates learning but also improves marks in high school and post-secondary settings.

Preparation is the key to success. If you plan ahead, time may work in your favor. As you study to graduate, we provide Top 10 Tips for Studying effectively.

1. If you're unsure of something, ask questions.

If you don't understand something, raise your hand and ask a question. If asking in front of everyone makes you uncomfortable, make a note for yourself to speak with the teacher after class.

Review and elaborate on the class notes after school. Reviewing your notes will assist you the next time you have a difficult test by transferring information from short-term memory to long-term memory.

2. Use social media responsibly

This is one of the more challenging bits of advice to heed. We are all aware that social media can eventually become toxic, despite the fact that the majority of us are attracted to it.

What amount of time do you usually spend online? An hour at night and a half in the morning? It all adds up. The equivalent of two hours each day is 14 hours-+ per week and 56 hours per month. If only half of that time had been allocated to revision, consider.

The best way to avoid distractions is to completely avoid social media, or at the very least, resist the impulse to use it for a lengthy amount of time. You'll be able to better manage your time if you avoid social media.

3. Keep a consistent sleeping routine

Always be aware of when you go to bed. According to NHS, getting enough sleep affects a student's overall health and happiness. In order to concentrate, pay attention, and perform better in class, it's critical for kids to receive the recommended amount of sleep each night.

Lack of sleep increases the risk of accidents, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and poor mental health in children and teenagers.

Most college students have problems falling asleep, and 60% of them spend five to six out of ten nights sleeping less than the recommended seven hours.

4. Avoid Procastinating

We've all had the experience of having to glance away from the textbook pages in order to put it off until only pressure and guilt are left.

One of the most common issues that students face is procrastination. Is so common that 70% of students experience it.

The definition of procrastination is "to repeatedly put off until later things you should do, frequently because you do not want to do them." (From the dictionary Collins.)

As exam season approaches, procrastination is the plague decimating student productivity and has reached pandemic proportions.

According to Dr. Piers Steel, author of The Procrastination Equation, students are physically and socially predisposed to putting off what we should do today. Procrastination destroys student productivity.

5. Speak to the teachers

Your teachers want to see you succeed. Before your test, speak with your teacher and let them know if you need any clarification or more assistance. Asking for assistance proactively will go a long way with teachers!

6. Stop Comparing Yourself with others

To learn with pals is absolutely amazing. Specifically using the knowledge-related test quiz on each other to increase our self-confidence in what we know however, this could be a mistake.

In the same amount of time that you spent reading 60 pages, your friend might have only read the first 20. This is because students learn at different times and in different ways. Never contrast yourself with your friends.

7.  Make sure you eat!

When we focus on a task for a long time, we frequently forget that we need to eat. You may even believe that you don't need to eat since you can read non-stop till you are prepared for the next test.

But not eating is the worst thing you can do for your growth and wellbeing. You won't be able to focus since it will be difficult for you to focus. Both eating and sleeping are essential. Remember to do both!

8. Face the music

In addition to all the beautiful advantages we all know and enjoy, music may be a great ally during learning. According to a recent study, listening to classical music before bed may improve our performance on difficult tests.

9. Get Organized!

Organize yourself. Time will always pass. Clear notes and tidy binders. Print the chief examiners' reports for the subjects you are studying. You can use the sample responses they offer as a guide for your own responses.

Try not to prioritize any one topic or issue. Each subject should receive equal attention. Spend two hours on each subject on the weekends, and set aside 30 to 40 minutes every night to review what was learned that day.

10. Study for Brief Intervals

Take a quick 10- to 15-minute break after every 30 minutes of studying to refresh. Making the most of your study time is easier with brief study sessions. By making a single study session into two, your mind prepares to absorb more information and learns better

Exams might seem unnerving, but if you cram everything in one sitting you will not be able to retain all said information.
